In the next match of the Ukrainian Amateur Championship, Mriya (Gostomel) met their ‘debutant colleague’, Dnister (Zalishchyky). Both teams approached the match with personnel losses: the visitors were missing Bobyk, one of their leading midfielders, who was suspended, and Mriya was unable to play Pomazan (who previously played for Sturm Ivanky).
Autumn weather and a difficult pitch significantly slowed down the pace of the game and affected the actions of the most technical players. ‘Mriya tried to control the ball and stretch the opponent, but Dniester responded with a compact defence and quick transitions from defence to attack.
The first half was an evenly contested affair: both sides created half-chances, but no goals were scored. The goalkeepers of Mriya and Dniester were confident, so the teams went into the break with a zero-all draw.
The fate of the match was decided after the rest, when the guests managed a quick counterattack. Chervonetskyi made a long diagonal pass from the left flank to the right, where Holodryga connected Kiriyenko. Upon entering the penalty area, the latter was stopped in violation of the rules by Yarmak. The referee awarded a penalty kick, which was clearly converted by the same Chervonetskyi with a left-footed shot into the corner – 0: 1.
Despite Mriya’s attempts to restore the balance, the opponents from Zalishchyky played tightly in defence and kept the margin of victory until the final whistle.
We thank all the fans who supported the team in difficult conditions! Mriya continues to work on improving the game and is looking forward to the next matches to please you with better results.
