Learning from the strong: Mriya gains valuable experience in game against Kolos

In their last match of the first round of the Ukrainian Amateur Championship, Mriya (Gostomel) hosted one of the leaders of Khmelnytskyi Oblast, FC Kolos (Polonne). Despite the disqualification of their captain and injuries to key players, the guests demonstrated a high level of organisation and won a confident victory.

Kolos started the match

In the opening minutes, Mriya’s players came under pressure from the opposition. A throw-in from the right flank by Borysevych resulted in an unsuccessful attempt to clear the ball by our defender. Naumets immediately took advantage of this, hitting the far corner with a strong right-footed shot – 0:1.

The visitors’ counterattack

Mriya tried to seize the initiative, but Kolos launched a quick multi-move attack. Lutsiuk, having played into the wall with Morozov, broke free to meet Merezhyn and technically scored in the corner – 0:2.

Second half and loss of concentration

At the beginning of the second half, the Dreamers received an unpleasant ‘ricochet’ goal: an unsuccessful clearance by Mriya’s defenders hit Prytulyak, and the ball ended up with Kolyada, who shot the ball from the centre of the penalty area – 0: 3.

The ‘fan’ combination

The guests organised their final goal with a real team play, started by Skotskyi. Then Naumets and Kolyada took turns playing passes, and Brytskyi finished the attack with a goal at the far post – 0:4.

Positive moments for Mriya

Despite the final score, Mriya continues to search for the optimal line-up and game model. In the match against Kolos, the hosts tried to use flank attacks, but the opponent blocked the space in the central area and gave them almost no chances for scoring.

The experience gained in the competition will help our team to adapt more quickly at the amateur all-Ukrainian level. Thanks to meetings with strong opponents, Mriya players better understand the needs of the tournament and learn valuable lessons in game construction and teamwork.
