In March, FC Mriya (Hostomel) played a number of friendly matches, thus concluding the stage of active preparation for the second round of the Kyiv and Ukrainian Amateur Championships. The team has actually formed its new squad and is now ready for official tests. Below is a brief overview of the latest games.

22 March: FC Mriya (Hostomel) vs FC Metalist1925 U19
2:2

A successful start and a lightning-fast response from the opposition

The first half was marked by high intensity on both sides. In the 30th minute, Vladyslav Volynets skilfully took advantage of a pass into the box and, having reached the goalkeeper, accurately shot into the goal – 1: 0. However, Metalist1925 U19 quickly regained the balance, launching an effective counterattack and finishing it with an accurate shot under the right nine – 1: 1.

Second half: regaining the lead and an unfortunate penalty

In the second half, Mriya took the lead again thanks to a quick transition to attack: in the 80th minute, the opposition goalkeeper went too far from the goal, and Dwali Soso punished him for this mistake – 2-1. It seemed that the victory was close, but in the last minutes after a corner, the ball ricocheted off Oleksandr Voloshin’s head and into his own net. As a result, the tense match ended in a 2-2 draw.

26 March: Chayka SC (Petropavlivska Borshchahivka) vs Mriya FC (Hostomel)
3: 2

Mriya’s rapid start

The meeting with an experienced opponent began more than optimistically for our guys: in the 7th minute Denys Yarmak put Mriya ahead 1-0 with an accurate shot. This goal was the result of aggressive pressure and a quick transition from defence to attack.

Chayka’s dominance and Mriya’s final breakthrough

After conceding a goal, the hosts immediately rushed to win back the game and developed their attacks to the point where Mriya had to focus on defence. As a result, Chayka scored three times, converting the chances they created. In the 90th minute, Chayka’s goalkeeper fouled Serhiy Kozak in his own penalty area, and the victim himself cut the gap to a minimum – 3-2. However, there was not enough time for the final comeback.

Results of the preparation

A series of friendly matches held over the past month helped Mriya’s coaching staff:

  • Mriya coaching staff to complete the recruitment of the new squad.
A number of potential newcomers have been screened, and the best of them have already joined the team.
  • Develop tactical interactions.
A clearer game plan has been drawn up, with an emphasis on fast flank breaks and aggressive pressure.
  • See weaknesses and ways to improve.
In matches against strong opponents, the need for a more stable defence and better ball control in the centre of the pitch became particularly apparent.

Now, all Mriya’s efforts will be focused on a successful performance in the second round of the Kyiv and Ukrainian Amateur Championships. Our team is ready to test its strength in practice and delight the fans with a brilliant football game.

We thank all our fans for their continued support and look forward to seeing you in the stands!

Dreams can’t be stopped!!!
